Gold hits a three-month high near $4,677, then pulls back

Updated August 25, 2026.

VERIFIED Gold (XAU/USD) hit an intraday high of $4,677.19 an ounce on August 25, 2026, its highest level since mid-May, before pulling back to $4,627.36 (down $18.55, -0.40%) later the same session, according to Yahoo Finance.

VERIFIED August is on track to be gold's best month since September 1999, up more than 15% so far, according to the same source. Even so, the metal remains well below its all-time high of $5,597.23, reached on January 29, 2026, per RoboForex.

What this does not mean

HYPOTHESIS A pullback right after a three-month high does not by itself say whether August's rally continues or ends here. Gold has already corrected more than 25% from its all-time high at other points in 2026, and one down session is not the same thing as a trend change.
