VERIFIED Total crypto market capitalization passed $2.74 trillion in mid-August, after adding roughly $500 billion in a matter of days. That is its highest level since early May, according to Bitcoin.com News.

What is behind the move

HYPOTHESIS Several market outlets attribute the move to a U.S. Treasury bond buyback announcement and a White House meeting where the administration voiced support for the crypto sector. That is the explanation circulating this week, not something this site has independently verified.
